Website is up and…running?

Good news for me! Finally have a working version of our website up at www.deathridesalone.com. The domain that once hosted this blog now hosts an actual page, which features tons of information and sound bytes. I’ll be doing a lot of work on it in the weeks to come but for the time being it’s pretty cool.

Good News!

Things have been pretty insane over the past few weeks here with DRA, but I’ve decided to make my return to this blog with exciting new news: it looks as though the video “Ouroboros” has been accepted into the Spokane International Film Festival. Justin, who was a member of the team that filmed it, told me just recently of the great news, so congratulations to them! Here’s the link if you’re interested in checking it out:

In other news the official DRA site will be launched in just a few days, so you’ll be able to see not only this Video, but virtually all of the DRA videos/tunes that have been floating around over the past few months. Stay tuned!

From This Tragedy

A few months ago our friend Sarah Beth approached us about doing the music for a Photo Documentary she was working on about this family who lost their daughters in a really tragic car wreck. Sarah didn’t give us a lot of info about what she wanted, just some moods like ‘sad but uplifting’ and other somewhat vague descriptions—but it was great because it really gave us the freedom to do what we felt would be right. And in the end I think she really did a great job with the editing and use of the tracks (which we didn’t actually have any input in this time). A lot of the music feels really rushed because, well, it is, and the actual production was kind of a hassle. We had some acoustic guitar issues that were pretty traumatic, but it was definitely a learning experience as far as that goes, and I dig how it turned out!

Check out the finished product (From This tragedy: the Murphy’s Story) on her blog. Like I said, it’s a really really sad story but it’s definitely worth watching. I’m looking to get a High definition version loaded onto our Projects page in the near future, but for the time being enjoy the flick!

Some Older Stuff: Martin Hojny

So I’ve been trying to put up a backlog of different projects that we’ve worked on and decided it was time to post this one. This one was done by Alex Hamadey about a year ago for Martin Hojny who is a Polish Documentary Film maker. The project was pretty rushed and Hamadey had to do the entire thing in one (long) night, but I think that the end result speaks for itself. Martin was looking for electronic music that could build the vibe of his film, which was about a neighborhood in Boston and it had to accomodate the interview footage. He was looking for something “that is chill and sounds something like Ulrich Schauss“…and this is what the DRA wizard came up with.

MCA: A Toy Story

Heres a project that Hamadey finished a few months ago that I’m just now getting around to posting. It’s a documentary shot by Ryan Meehan about this guy MCA who’s a well known toy designer. Ryan wanted something that was somewhat Hip-Hop but also had some ambient elements so that it wouldn’t interfere with the dialogue. And DRA delivered: here it is.

Oro…Ouro…Horror Film

So for the past few weeks we’ve been helping with the audio work and scoring a short horror film for a group of BU film majors who approached us a while back. The video looked great from the start, and I think that the audio and music only helped it to become a pretty scary little movie. It was our first time doing legitimate foley work and i believe Hammer and I both enjoyed doing it so it’s something that I’ve been looking into doing more of fo’ sho’.

The screening for it was the other night and a ton of people turned out, which was awesome. Our film (Ouroboros?) was last and I think that it really freaked out all of its unsuspecting victims (particularly the 8 year old girl sitting in front of me who asked her dad if they could leave…I actually felt pretty bad believe it or not).

Hopefully I’ll post a copy of it up here for all to see pretty soon, but in the mean time I just wanted to say thanks to everyone involved!
